CIRC 004: GFTU SURVEY

The General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU), of which the POA are an affiliate, launched a Survey for Workers’ Voices on Trade Union Education on 19th January 2026, as part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with SOAS University of London’s Economics Department.

GFTU’s aim is to get 1,000 responses and launch the full report at the end of this year in Parliament. This survey is the first of its kind in decades, comprehensive research on trade union education informed by directly listening to workers’ voices.

Through the survey, GFTU aims to understand:

  • Who is accessing Trade Union education — and what barriers exist for others.
  • What kind of education workers have found useful and want more of.
  • How political-economy education can support organising, bargaining, and collective action today.

All responses are strictly confidential.

The survey takes approximately 3-7 minutes to complete:

Please make all members aware of this Survey and encourage them to participate.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Yours sincerely
