The POA has recently completed a comprehensive survey of all members across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland regarding the issue of retirement age. Our colleagues in Scotland were ahead of us, having completed their survey earlier in the year.

We are pleased to report that over 3,200 members participated in the survey, highlighting the strength of feeling and concern surrounding this critical issue. Members clearly recognise the importance of ensuring their voices are heard on the question of being expected to work until the age of 68, and the associated operational pressures and anxieties that come with this.
Using the data and personal testimonies gathered, the POA has compiled a key report detailing the real impact that the current retirement age has on our members’ wellbeing, morale, and operational safety.
This report will now be circulated to Members of Parliament, and a motion is being laid before the English Parliament to draw further attention to this matter.

This action is a simple but vital way for every member to make their voice heard. We encourage all members to participate and add weight to our campaign for a fair and safe retirement age.
Your sincerely
