CIRC 075: RETIRED MEMBERS COMMITTEE

The Rules and Constitution are clear that under Rule 5, we will have a retired members section and that qualification for retired membership is having been a full member until ceasing qualification for full membership under Rule 4.1.

Under Rule 5.1 (b) there should be a Retired Members Committee comprising;

  1. Chairperson
  2. Vice Chairperson
  3. Secretary
  4. Up to two committee members

The Retired Members Committee under the Rules and Constitution do not have executive powers but can make recommendations to the NEC for their consideration.

Rule 5.1 (g) states “The NEC will determine from time to time the format and personnel of the Retired Members Committee”.

A vacancy has now arisen on the Retired Members Committee and the NEC have decided to advertise for expressions of interest to be considered for one position on the Committee.

Branches can nominate Retired Members and Retired Members can also apply directly to membership@poauk.org.uk by the 3rd November 2023 for consideration.

Yours sincerely
