CIRC 040: RETAINED

The Retained EU Law Bill returns to the House of Commons on Monday 12th June 2023. The Retained EU Law Bill being considered by Parliament threatens key rights such as holiday pay, rest breaks and protection from discrimination.

It gives ministers sweeping powers to rewrite or revoke thousands of laws while bypassing the Parliamentary chamber. This approach means that we risk seeing vital workplace protections vanish overnight without democratic debate.

MPs have the chance on Monday 12th June to ensure they keep the power to protect our hard-won rights. Among the amendments MPs will be discussing is a key one from Lord Anderson that will stop the government using Henry VIII powers to revoke or restate important rights without Parliamentary scrutiny.

The POA are encouraging members and their families and friends to write to their MP to support this important amendment:

Thank you for your anticipated support.

Yours sincerely
