It has been bought to the Executive’s attention that some members may be adversely impacted by lump sum and/or backdated payments if they are in receipt of Universal Credit. As Universal Credit awards are calculated on a month-to-month basis, members may lose out substantially if a large one-off payment is made all in one month.
If you are one of these members in receipt of Universal Credit, and you believe that you will be adversely affected please contact carol@poauk.org.uk and the Executive will take this up with the employer.
The TUC, on behalf of the Public Services Liaison Group will also be writing to Jeremy Quinn, the Paymaster General of the UK, requesting he take immediate action to prevent all public sector workers from being penalised by the implementation of these payments, either by instructing employers to implement the payments on a staggered basis where appropriate or to exempt the payments from the UC award calculations.
Thank you for your continued support.
