In respect of POA Circular 039/23 please disregard that Circular as it will now be replaced with this one due to an error that we have since discovered. Please find the new table in respect of the membership statement.
The human error came when preparing the membership statement. The figures are taken from SAGE Payroll reports and then a summary report is created. The excel formula used to prepare the final summary report had an error, which only got picked up internally after the statement went out to the membership. Due to this error the total figures reported to AR21 are slightly lower than the actuals. A difference of £941.54 has been noted. Page 11 of the AR21 has been amended.
In the original summary spread sheet due to an incorrect formula being applied, pension figures got deducted instead of (Car/Fuel Benefit in Kind).
This has now been rectified by our accountants at the General Federation of Trade Unions and our auditor has informed the relevant Certification Officers of the error and they now have the updated membership statement. This was outside the control of the NEC, and I apologise for any confusion caused but it has been rectified at the first available opportunity.
The same applies to the previous Circular that the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993 require us to provide the membership with certain information about our accounts and finances. This POA Circular and attached enclosure promulgates the information to you. Please ensure that the POA notice boards display this I and that branch members are informed of the provision.
Yours sincerely
STEVE GILLAN
General Secretary
