Job Opportunity: Use of Force (Control & Restraint) Instructor

Salary - £32,787.63 per annum

Base Location – Kent

Contract - Permanent

Full Time, 40 hours per week

 

MTC are looking to recruit Use of Force (UoF) Instructors to support our operations at Manston, a short-term holding facility for detained persons who have crossed the channel into the UK

The successful candidate will have undertaken the Use of Force (UoF) Instructor Initial Course with NTRG and completed all refresher training to ensure they are fully compliant and able to deliver their recognised Control & Restraint training package. The individual will become a Detention Custody Manager (certified Detention Custody Officer) for MTC and will undertake operational duties when not delivering training.

What will the UoF Instructor role involve?

As a UoF Instructor for MTC, you will take responsibility for the delivery of UoF training and subsequent employee assessments and refresher training courses. You will use your knowledge and skills to inform and enable the development of future operations at Manston and for future MTC contracts.

  • Delivery of UoF training to MTC employees; to new starters through our Initial Training Course (ITC), refresher training and coaching/developing colleagues.
  • Monitoring of the application of Use of Force in practice; ensuring best practice approach, identifying and addressing any training needs, and reviewing processes and governance arrangements in conjunction with the Contract Manager.
  • Regular review of learning outcomes & assessing learner competency levels
  • Review and play a role in any investigation resulting from Use of Force incidents, including Use of Force reports and BWC footage.
  • Manage Use of Force training database, working closely with the Business Process Office (BPO) to organise regular refresher training sessions.
  • Complete and maintain risk assessments for UoF training.

What are the requirements of the role?

  • Must hold the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent qualification)
  • Must be competent in operational procedures within a detained setting, including dynamic risk assessments.
  • Qualified and in date UoF Instructor through NTRG, up to date with all refresher training requirements.
  • Ability to comply with ongoing performance and competency assessment by NTRG.
