CIRC 087: AUTUMN OF ACTION – LOBBY AND RALLY 2nd NOVEMBER 2022

The TUC are currently finalising plans for the Lobby of Parliament and evening mass rally on Wednesday 2nd November 2022. Westminster Central Hall is booked as the base for the day and evening.

Over 400 people from the TUC have registered to meet their MP and over 1600 people have expressed an interest. The TUC have contacted these people and are supporting them to book in meetings with their MP on 2nd November 2022. The POA have also contacted our members who have registered.

It’s time for a new deal for working people. We need a real pay rise for every worker, starting with a £15 minimum wage as soon as possible, and more help with bills. It’s time to ban zero hours contracts and end fire and rehire. Only working people can deliver this change - so this Autumn, the TUC are taking action.

The mass Lobby of Parliament takes place on Wednesday 2nd November 2022. We want every MP to hear from workers from their constituency about the reality of the cost-of-living crisis. Join the mass Lobby of MPs in London and ask your MP to support a budget that delivers for working people. The TUC will also be holding a rally in Methodist Central Hall at 6pm on Wednesday 2nd November 2022. Join us to hear from frontline workers and union leaders about how they are fighting for higher pay and fairer treatment at work. The Government has failed to deal with the cost-of-living emergency. They sat back while living standards plummeted. And now they prioritise tax cuts for the rich, attacking trade unions and cutting rights at work.

However, the Executive understand that not all members will be able to attend Westminster on 2nd November 2022. I would therefore urge members to book an appointment with their respective MPs at their local surgeries as soon as possible. Members may want to bring the following to the attention of their Member of Parliament;

Retirement Age.

Pay and how this is impacting on you.

Recruitment and retention in your workplace.

Violence in your workplace.

Working conditions.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your help and support for this Campaign and ask that you give the contents of this Circular as wide a coverage as possible, to ensure a good turnout from the POA membership.

Yours sincerely
