I refer to POA Circular 21/2022. As previously stated, the TUC has booked Parliament Square on Saturday 18 June for a March and Rally, as part of the campaign for a pay rise, for action on the cost of living and for a new deal for working people.
I am now able to give more information regarding the day’s events.
OUTLINE MARCH TIMINGS AND LOCATIONS (all subject to confirmation)
Working people have had enough. Everything’s going up but our wages.
Ministers partied while people died. Now they do nothing while living standards plummet and P&O lays off hundreds of workers on the spot.
It’s time for a new deal for working people. We need help with energy bills and a real pay rise for every worker.
Let’s take matters into our own hands – and get out on the streets.
On 18 June, in London, let’s tell this government: we DEMAND better.
In order to make this mobilisation a success, the TUC need to bring people together from across member unions, across the regions and nations, and from every sector of the economy. The TUC is joining with the POA and others for this event. We hope that as many Union members and their families will be able to attend on the day.
Travel and subsistence will be payable for all POA members who attend.
SECOND CLASS RAIL FARE WILL BE PAYABLE UNLESS IT IS MORE CONVENIENT AND ECONOMICAL FOR DELEGATES TO TRAVEL TOGETHER IN ONE CAR WHERE MILEAGE OF 45p PER MILE PLUS 2p PASSENGER RATE WILL BE PAYABLE. THIS WILL ONLY BE APPROVED IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THE COST DOES NOT EXCEED SECOND CLASS RAIL FARE. PLEASE ENSURE THAT WHERE RAIL TICKETS ARE PURCHASED THAT THEY ARE PRE-BOOKED IN ADVANCE SAVER TICKETS. SUCH TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED FROM www.thetrainline.com or www.raileasy.co.uk. It is essential your Expenses Claim form is emailed to Paula Larwill - finance@poauk.org.uk no later than 12.00noon on 3 June 2022 as payment of expenses will be by BACS in advance of the March and Rally. Claims received after the above date may have to be paid post March and Rally by BACS. No cash payments for expenses will be made.
Can I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your help and support for this Campaign and ask that you give the contents of this Circular as wide a coverage as possible, to ensure a good turnout from the POA membership.
Further information will be communicated in due course.
Yours sincerely
