SCOTLAND: RE: SCOTTISH CONFERENCE 2022 - ITEMS FOR AGENDA

We will hold our Annual Conference to deal wholly with Scottish issues from the 26th of October to the 27th of October 2022, with the training day being held on Friday 26th October 2022.  The conference will take place at the Peebles Hydro, Peebles and further details will be circulated to branches when arrangements have been finalised.

In the meantime, branches are now requested to submit proposals for inclusion on the agenda and they should be under one of the following headings: -

  1. PAY, SUBSTITUTION AND ALLOWANCES 
  2. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
  3. MISCELLANEOUS
  4. HEALTH & SAFETY
  5. UNIFORM

The Standing Orders Committee have ruled that proposals must reach the Prison Officers Association (Scotland) Headquarters not later than 12 noon on Friday 29th July 2022, following which the Standing Orders Committee will consider composites, etc. and if necessary, seek clarification from branches on proposals submitted prior to preparing the agenda.

Branches are advised to send proposals by recorded or registered post, facsimile transmissions will not be acceptable as the original certificates should be received at POA (Scotland) Headquarters before noon on the 29th of July 2022.  

It is incumbent on all branches that proposals must be submitted on the enclosed form, signed by the Branch Secretary/Chair to the effect that they were adopted at a properly convened Branch meeting, together with the date of that meeting.

The Standing Orders Committee has asked me to reiterate the fact that they are seeking proposals which would be relevant for the Scottish Committee to deal with in Scotland and to remind branches that they will be called upon to submit motions for inclusion in the National Conference Agenda for May of next year, at which time they may submit motions under such headings as Rules and Constitution and Matters Affecting the Association, which have not been included for submission under this Agenda.
