Please find attached press release. As you will see the POA are legally challenging the introduction of legislation in relation to using agency workers to try and break legitimate strikes. As you know there are areas within our union where members can take legitimate strike action as they are not shackled by Section 127 of the Criminal Justice Public Order Act 1994.
Our members in Scotland have the right to strike, as do our members in NHS England at Rampton, Ashworth and Broadmoor. Carstairs come under NHS Scotland, and they also have the right to strike. Our Operational Support Grades in England/Wales service have the right to strike.
The POA along with 11 other unions have acted swiftly on this matter in order to protect your rights at work. I will keep you updated as matters progress.
