The Government is again planning attacks on trade unions, boosting the powers of the Certification Officer including the imposition of a new levy.

The National Executive need MPs to hear from our members about the critical work that you and the POA have done throughout the pandemic, so they understand the impact of this decision.

  • Tell your MP how your union has supported you, a friend or family member during the pandemic
  • Tell your MP why trade unions are important to you
  • Tell your MP why further attacks on trade unions will make us all worse off

The more of us who act, the greater the pressure on the Government to reverse their plans. Please edit the below and send to your MP.

Dear ………….

Throughout my working life, I’ve been lucky to have my trade union by my side. Together with my colleagues, our union gives us a voice at work. It gives us the support we need to negotiate fair pay and safe workplaces.

Therefore, I’m disappointed to hear that the Government is planning attacks on trade unions like mine. Legislation to levy unions for the costs of the Certification Officer and other expensive changes will have a huge impact on my union’s ability to support working people.

As your constituent, I’m asking you to stand up for me and the thousands of other union members in our constituency by opposing this levy.

Will you write to Kwasi Kwarteng asking him to reconsider these new attacks on trade unions? Your support can make the difference.

Despite the Trade Union Act making the work of unions more difficult, they continue to be the best protection working people have from exploitation, abuse and unfairness.

Many thanks for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Thank you for your anticipated support.

Yours sincerely
