Please find enclosed a press release which was issued yesterday on behalf of the POA in Scotland, and the Scottish Police Federation.

It relates to a decision taken by the HSE around the recording of spitting or coughing incidents involving police and prison staff during COVID, no longer being required to be recorded under RIDDOR.

There was no communication or discussion with either organisations over this issue and appeared on their website without any prior notice. Both ourselves and Police Federation felt it was important to record our views through the media In regard to this, given that we do not agree with the decision at the best of times, let alone during this pandemic period.

Kind Regards
On Behalf of the Scottish National Committee

Assistant General Secretary Scotland
