CIRC 175: ROYAL HOLLOWAY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON RESEARCH STUDY - REMINDER

I would like to remind you about the following which I first advised you about in POA Circular 165/2020, on behalf of the POA National Executive Committee I have been in discussions with Professor Nick Hardwick the former Chief Inspector of Prisons and his colleagues from the University.

The University have secured funding do some research looking at the impact of the COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELL-BEING OF POA MEMBERS. The University are inviting all POA members in England/Wales Service, SPS, Northern Ireland, Secure Hospitals’ and other settings to be part of a research study being run by researchers at Royal Holloway University of London with the support of the POA to look at the impact on our members during this pandemic.

It will involve filling in an online questionnaire (about 15 minutes). Your replies will be completely anonymous and only researchers from the University will see your responses. The pandemic has been a difficult period for all POA members’ and the study will be used to see what can be done to support a healthy work environment for all POA members.

This is purely on a voluntary basis, but I would encourage all members irrespective of where you work to assist with this research so the POA can continue to assist you in the workplace when we get a copy of the report in the spring of next year.

Thank you very much for your participation.
