It is with deep regret that I inform you of the sad death of Geoff Burrows after a brave fight against illness. Sadly, Geoff died on Saturday 19th December 2020. Geoff joined the service in December 1988 and served at Brixton, Moorland and Lancaster Farms before being medically retired due to a violent attack in 2011.

Even after being medically retired Geoff championed the work of Prison staff and did PHD research into violence in our prisons. I am sure Geoff will be remembered as a strong committed and true trade unionist. His tenacity and strength of character shone through in everything he did in representing his fellow members. Geoff fought to the end of his illness and our thoughts are with Dawn Burrows his wife, family, former colleagues, and many friends.

Geoff Burrows will be dearly missed but not forgotten and the POA family will continue to support Dawn Burrows at this difficult time.

Yours Sincerely

General Secretary
