MTC are looking to recruit Use of Force (UoF) Instructors to support our operations at Manston, a short-term holding facility for detained persons who have crossed the channel into the UK.

Judicial Review proceedings commenced by six trade unions, relating to changes made by the Government to public sector pensions, will be heard in the High Court on 31st January 2023, with the trial due to last until Friday 3rd February.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all POA members.

Due to the development of the POA Website, members can now submit Legal Applications directly to the Legal Department of the POA. This has meant that the Legal Aid Handbooks and the accompanying forms have had to be updated.

In October 2021 HMPPS commenced a pilot in seven establishments for a new First Aid Policy. This pilot is now complete, and despite the Executive’s best endeavors, no policy has been implemented.

This is a re-issue of a POA Circular promulgated on 17 August 2022. Despite this, members are reporting difficulties obtaining Carrying Aids. Where this is the case, please follow the guidance in this circular.
