We will hold our Annual Conference to deal wholly with Scottish issues from the 26th of October to the 27th of October 2022, with the training day being held on Friday 26th October 2022

We will be conducting a workplace ballot in your place of work to gauge the members response to the SPS pay offer for 2022/23.

The Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993 require us to provide the membership with certain information about our accounts and finances.

Due to last minute cancellations the POA is looking for delegates to attend the following TUC Equality Conference 2022.

It would appear that HMPPS, Governors, Senior Management Teams and Shared Services are failing to recognise the rules which must be applied when our members are injured or assaulted at work. Circular 134/2017 advised members that the POA intended to initiate Tribunal proceedings alleging that the introduction of the new “alpha” pension scheme for prison officers, and the new 2015 NHS Pension Scheme for secure psychiatric workers amounted to unlawful age discrimination.

The POA National Executive determined that it was time to produce a documentary on the history of the POA.

I refer to POA Circulars 21/2022 and 27/2022. As previously stated, the TUC has booked Parliament Square on Saturday 18 June for a march and rally, as part of the campaign for a pay rise, for action on the cost of living and for a new deal for working people.

Representing over 30,000 Prison, Correctional and Secure Psychiatric Workers, the POA is the largest UK Union in this sector, able to trace its roots back more than 100 years.
