On the 24th March 2020 I sent out my first POA Circular 37/2020 update in relation to COVID-19 after regime restrictions came into place, which are fully supported by the NEC. I stated in that Circular that I would give weekly updates and I intend to do that unless there is nothing to report.

I wanted to pass onto you all my sincerest thanks for the brave and essential work you are all carrying out during these unprecedented times.

In relation to the above there appears to be much misinformation being placed on social media in particular by individuals promoting the Criminal Justice Workers Union. We understand that individuals setting this up are merely in our opinion self-publicists who are frustrated that they do not have a seat at the table with the employers who recognise the POA.

 

Please read this if you were a member of the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) or the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) on or before 31st March 2012.

The POA today praised the decision of the Secretary of State for Justice and the Director of Public Sector Prisons for their decision to place Prisons in England and Wales on immediate ‘lock down.’

 

Representing over 30,000 Prison, Correctional and Secure Psychiatric Workers, the POA is the largest UK Union in this sector, able to trace its roots back more than 100 years.
