The 2023 Prison Service Pay Review Body England and Wales report has now been laid in Parliament 

The Prison Officers Association has reacted cautiously to todays announcement covering the pay of Prison Officer and Operational Support grades working within Public Sector Prisons in England and Wales.

The High Court has today ruled that the Government’s Agency Worker Regulations are unlawful following a successful legal challenge by 13 Unions, of which the POA was one.

Parliamentary coverage of a debate in the House of Commons on 4th July, 2023, on the funding of prisons and probation. This provided a detailed critic of the problems faced by the Service and a POA Briefing paper circulated through the Joint Unions in Prison Alliance was used throughout the exchanges.

Following the adoption of the above motions, members may apply for 10, 15, 20, and 30-years membership badges providing the criteria is met as set out on the attached pro-forma.

In respect of POA Circular 039/23 please disregard that Circular as it will now be replaced with this one due to an error that we have since discovered.

We will hold our Annual Conference to deal wholly with Scottish issues from the 25th of October to the 26th of October 2023, with the training day being held on Friday 27^th October 2023.
