POA Circulars

As General Secretary of the POA I am updating you on the written evidence and oral submission that the Area Committee NI did on behalf of the POA membership for all unified grades in Northern Ireland.

As you are aware the above election will take place as follows:

The General Federation of Trade Unions (of which the POA is an affiliate) will be running a ‘Roots of Racism’ course on 11th and 12th December 2023 at Quorn Grange, near Loughborough. Overnight accommodation will be provided.

Following new concerns of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC), the TUC are advising that an organising approach to support Branch Officials should be taken in order for them to ask the right questions of their employers and consider routes to escalation.

Further to POA Circular 68/2023 regarding nominations for Conduct Committee members as per Rule 26.3, I confirm that process has now been completed.

The Annual Conference for 2024 is scheduled to be held on the above dates at the welcome building, eastbourne and will be THREE days duration.

As you will be aware the POA have been working on evolving our Information Technology systems and the corporate image of the POA.

Please find attached NEC minutes for the 11th October 2023 for your information.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all POA members.

This circular supersedes the previous POA Circular NI 001/2023 dated 20 October 2023.

Representing over 30,000 Prison, Correctional and Secure Psychiatric Workers, the POA is the largest UK Union in this sector, able to trace its roots back more than 100 years.
