ULRs have been instrumental in championing the importance of training and development. ULRs work very hard to boost the image and strengthen the organisation of our Union within the workplace along with widening union membership across the board.

 

Following the adoption of the above motion, members may apply for 10, 15 and 20-years membership badges providing the criteria is met as set out on the attached pro-forma.

 

Earlier today the CEO Jo Farrar for HMPPS put out an update to all her staff titled “RACISM IN HMPPS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED”.

At the NEC meeting of 10th June 2020, the cancellation of Annual Conference 2020 and the disposal of Motions were discussed, and it was proposed;

The Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993 require us to provide the membership with certain information about our accounts and finances.

 

As I have indicated in previous updates the POA have been in discussions with HMPPS regarding the medium term recovery plan. HMPPS have agreed wording to the National Framework with the POA and other recognised Unions within HMPPS. Consideration has been given to how Gatelodge can be more representative of members’ views whilst at the same time being a good source of information. The National Executive therefore welcome ideas from all sectors of the membership about what they would like to see in the journal.

 

The National Executive wish to make you aware of recent amendments to the process that governs outstanding Internal Adjudicator (IA) referrals.

 

Representing over 30,000 Prison, Correctional and Secure Psychiatric Workers, the POA is the largest UK Union in this sector, able to trace its roots back more than 100 years.
