Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don’t die of mystery ailments or in tragic “accidents”. They die because their employer decided that their safety was not that important a priority.

The POA for a number of years in partnership with the Fire Fighters Charity and funded by the POA Welfare fund have successfully sent many POA members to the rehabilitation centres in order to assist members offering physical and psychological health and wellbeing sessions.

The POA are delighted to have signed up with an Exclusive Associate to Vitality Health and Life Insurance who are called Switch Lifestyles.

POA Circular 156/2020 signalled that the NEC were making preparations to hold Annual Conference in Southport in November 2021 and therefore postponed the May 2021 Conference which proved to be the correct decision given the situation with the pandemic as the May 2021 Conference would certainly not have gone ahead.

The People’s Assembly against Austerity has called a national rally to demand a new normal as society moves away from this round of Covid-19 restrictions.

Enclosed for your information is the latest guidance from HMPPS that clarifies the procedures to be taken when dealing with staff absences due to Covid 19 and the effects of Long Covid.

There are further discussions ongoing in Cabinet Office, but it is planned that this year’s Annual Benefit Statements will not be printed and sent out by post to individual’s home addresses.
