Press releasesREF: PR/44/07 DATE: 4th September 2007 To: ALL POLITICAL PRESS RELEASE Union Pays Tribute to British PressLeaders of the POA today at a special National Executive Committee meeting placed on record their thanks to the British press and media for the fair and accurate way in which they reported the events pre and post the National Strike of prisons in England and Wales on Wednesday 29th August 2007. Colin Moses National Chairman said: “It is pleasing to see that the British Press gave a fair and balanced synopsis of the events surrounding the POA’s fist National Strike in its 68 year history. “The general public’s view was that the action by prison staff was both right and justified”. Brian Caton General Secretary said: “It is not very often that a union pays tribute to the press and media, but on this occasion it is only right and proper that we acknowledge our fellow union members, who work for a variety press and media organisations and gave a fair and accurate report to the British public”.
