Press releasesREF: PR/23/07 DATE: 16th April 2007 To: ALL POLITICAL PRESS RELEASE POA Ignored By NOMS Chief ExecutiveColin Moses National Chairman of the POA has expressed the POA’s disappointment and frustration as Helen Edwards, Chief Executive of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) refuses to meet and discuss the current problems within the Prison Service considering this Union believe they have the where with all to resolve many of the problems, and are still keen to try and resolve them. Colin Moses said: “The POA are the largest trade union representing unified grades within the Criminal Justice System. I have requested a dedicated meeting with the Chief Executive to discuss change management in the Prison Service emanating from NOMS. “We are disappointed that our request has been refused because the problems within the Prison Service and the management of the system are in our opinion in crisis, and has been for some considerable time. The offer to sit down and discuss a positive way forward was a genuine offer which appears to have been dismissed. I cannot understand why a true partnership cannot be accepted and worked to ensure the Prison Service plays its key role in the Criminal Justice System”.
