Press releasesREF: PR/13/05 DATE: 9th September 2005 To: ALL POLITICAL PRESS RELEASE Working In Criminal Justice: Challenges For Government, Unions and EmployersBrendan Barber, General Secretary, TUC will open this fringe meeting where high-profile speakers discuss employment in the services that administer criminal justice in the UK. Up for debate are issues such as workforce development and investment in skills, together with the wider modernisation agenda in prison and probation services. The meeting will be chaired by Colin Moses, POA National Chair. Guest speakers will include the Home Secretary, Charles Clarke, POA General Secretary, Brian Caton, NAPO General Secretary, Judy McKnight and representatives from the Police Federation and Skills for Justice. Brian Caton, POA General Secretary said: "The justice unions welcome the opportunity to sit with the Home Secretary and debate Labour Party policy on criminal justice. The POA is a modern union. There is a need to identify the areas which we now organise and the services for which our members deliver on behalf of society". The fringe meeting will take place on TUESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2005 AT 5.30PM AT THE BRIGHTON CENTRE, MEETING ROOM 2.
