POA Welcomes Home Secretary's Decision

The POA have welcomed the news that the Home Secretary has deferred the Market Testing process of the three prisons on the Isle of Sheppey.

The Home Secretary has agreed to POA and Prison Service proposals for providing improvements throughout the Prison Estate, without the need to consider privatisation.

Colin Moses National Chairman said today:

“This is a rare opportunity of the Government listening to all sides of the arguments and allowing the service and the POA to work together to achieve our joint aims. A publicly run service, giving value for money and the threat of privatisation removed”.
