PRISON STAFF THREATENS WALKOUT

Prison staff at HMP Lindholme have reacted angrily to the over zealous actions of the prison management in suspending staff.

Local representatives of the POA have been attempting to resolve the local problems without any success and work colleagues have threatened not to return to work in support of fellow POA members. Concerns have been raised that other prison staff within surrounding area may well support their colleagues which will lead to unrest within the prison service.

Joe Simpson, National Executive Officer, has been at the prison and reported that he has not seen such anger amongst the membership of the POA for many a year.

Mr Simpson said: “Staff are fed up to the back teeth with being treated like second class citizens and subjected to unjust treatment by the employer”.
