SPS Announces Closure of HMP Noranside

In our last musings we told you how we had just been informed the SPS intention to close HMP Noranside.
Since then we have had a Special delegate’s conference at which we received unanimous support to campaign for the retention of Noranside.
STUC There is a better way campaign
Shop stewards, trade union and community activists from across Scotland will come together in a massive rally in Glasgow to hear leading trade unionists discuss the next steps in the campaign and to ensure a major mobilisation for the "There is an Alternative" march and rally in London on 26th March.

Annual Conference 2009 - Items for Agenda: Circ/16/09 22 July 2009
It is now planned to hold our Annual Conference to deal wholly with Scottish issues on the 29th & 30th of October 2009. It is intended to hold the conference at the Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry and further details will be circulated to branches when arrangements have been finalised.
