The POA have offered Mersey Care Trust fresh discussions to avert strike action in the Trust from over 500 POA members after Nurses Peter Hilton and Kevin Gregson were dismissed after the restraint of a violent patient.

POA ANNOUNCE 24 HOUR STRIKE FOR ASHWORTH HOSPITAL ON 13TH NOVEMBER 2015

The POA have sent a notice to Merseycare Trust informing them that a 24 hour strike will take place on the 13th November 2015 from 07.00 hours to 07.00 hours on Saturday 14th November 2015 after its members in the trust voted overwhelmingly for strike action. This follows the dismissals of Kevin Gregson and Peter Hilton following the restraint of a violent patient.

Ashworth Hospital to take strike action

The POA membership have voted overwhelmingly for strike action and action short of strike action in support of two nurses who were dismissed for restraining a violent patient. The strike ballot was 92.3% in favour and 97.1% in favour of action short of strike action.

Ashworth Secure Division to take Strike Action

The POA have balloted its membership in the secure hospital in Mersey Care trust and the result was overwhelmingly in favour of strike action. The ballot was enacted after two members were dismissed for restraining a violent patient who had assaulted staff.
