POA MEMBERS REJECT PRISON REFORM AGREEMENT 2016
The POA membership in England and Wales have overwhelmingly rejected the best and final offer from Government and the Employer on the Prison Reform Agreement 2016, which consisted of Pension Age Reduction, an Industrial Relation Procedural Agreement and a 3 year pay deal.
The POA now urge Government to come back to the negotiating table, so that issues of concern to the membership can be addressed.
Steve Gillan General Secretary said;
“In the ballot return 65.7% of our members rejected their offer with 33.7% in favour along with 0.6% spoilt votes. I urge Government not to ignore the views of our members. This was a democratic vote and they should not walk away from the negotiating table like they threatened during our ballot through the Employer”.
The POA stand ready to re-engage in negotiations with both the Employer and Secretary of State.
