It has been brought to the attention of the NEC that local Committees are not discussing and using the above data to address and manage levels of violence.

Local Committees are advised to ensure Local VDT data is discussed with management every month at Health & Safety meetings and monthly POA meetings and an agreed action plan put in place to affect change including staffing levels, regimes, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.

The Executive are constantly monitoring this data and take it forward with HMPPS through the Whitley Structure, but the data has to be analysed and used locally to be effective.

If any local Committee need advice on this issue they should contact their NEC rep or Cronin House.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and cooperation.

Yours sincerely
General Secretary
