PENSIONS CONFERENCE REPORT BACK
At the POA’s 78th Annual Conference Motion 89 was accepted and read;
“The NEC continue negotiations with the Government over the current pension age and that they inform them retirement date for all operational staff must be set to 60 years of age. The membership instructs the NEC to take whatever action they deem necessary to achieve this goal.”
This Motion was accepted and now forms part of the Union’s Policy and will be progressed by the Executive. For the avoidance of doubt, this motion mandated the Executive to achieve a mandatory retirement age for all operational staff, a retirement age of 60.
I intend to provide a report back on the progression of Conference Motions by way of POA Circular rather than waiting until the start of next year’s Conference as is the current system.
Please draw the contents of this Circular to your members.
Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation.
Yours Sincerely
Steve Gillan
General Secretary
