BRIAN CATON: HONORARY LIFE MEMBER AND PREVIOUS GENERAL SECRETARY 2000-2010

On the 13th March 2017, Brian Caton was found unconscious in his hotel bedroom abroad in Goa. He had a bleed on his brain and was operated on and subsequently moved to another hospital in Mumbai to aid his recovery.

I have been receiving regular updates from his daughter. At the time of writing Brian remains in a Mumbai Hospital and although slight improvements have been made he remains in a serious condition.

Obviously, we do not know the long-term prognosis, but I am sure we all wish Brian Caton a full recovery.

His daughter has approved mey putting this Circular out as an update. Prior to that although receiving updates on a regular basis, I wanted to respect their privacy at this very difficult time for the family.

Any messages of support for Brian can be sent to nicola@poauk.org.uk and I will ensure they are passed on to the family.

I will with the family approval put out further updates as and when it is necessary.

Once again, I regret having to report this upsetting news and I hope Brian in the near future is well enough to be permitted to transfer from Mumbai Hospital to one in this country.

Yours sincerely

STEVE GILLAN
General Secretary
