POA Wins right to trial over negotiation dispute

The POA today agreed a deal with their Employer which forced plans for an imposition of new job roles to be placed on hold pending an expedited trial.

Prior to the hearing HMPPS made an offer to the POA to place on hold their plans to impose plans for new job roles which affect terms and conditions. If they had gone ahead with the hearing there was a chance that the POA would have gained an injunction.

Responding to the decision National Chair Mark Fairhurst said;

“As a responsible Union we always maintained that changes to job roles and terms and conditions should be subject to collective bargaining negotiations. The concessions the Employer made pre- hearing are points we have asked for consistently over the previous months but have always been denied. If they had listened to the POA in the first instance Court action could have been avoided.

This is a major victory for the POA and we are still open to negotiating the underlying issues”.

End.
