THE PEOPLE SURVEY 2016
Please be reminded that the current policy of the POA is not to engage in completion of the employer’s annual staff survey, this year named the ‘People Survey 2016.’ This was determined via Conference Motion 42/2010 carried & reaffirmed by Conference Motion 86/2015 not being adopted.

NOMS PROPOSALS FOR ADDRESSING ANNUAL LEAVE SHORTFALLS IN ESTABLISHMENTS
In July of this year the NEC were asked to consider proposals from NOMS in respect of the inability of staff to take their full annual leave allowance.
VIOLENCE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL (VDT) - NATIONAL & LOCAL
On 29th September 2016 the NEC discussed the detailed analysis, which is available to local Governors and POA officials from the above. It is clear that the information produced highlights key times within the core day when different types of incidents occur. This information must be used to assess risks, review risk assessments, staffing levels and RMP’s.
NTS 36/16 REDUCTION IN THE RATE OF OVERNIGHT SUBSISTENCE PAYMENTS - WITH EFFECT FROM 1 OCTOBER 2016
On 29th September 2016 the NEC determined to promulgate the above NTS and provide members with a summary of events in regard to this notice.
THE RIGHT TO STRIKE: FURTHER EUROPEAN CHALLENGES
With regards to the above issue pertaining to the rights of Prison Officer grades being able to strike and being restricted under legislation by both a Conservative Government and Labour Government for some 22 years; as per our Rules and Constitution and the aims and objectives of the Union, the Executive are launching another challenge to the ban on strike action.
