Access to In-Vision and My-detail

The NEC has been in discussions with HMPPS over the failure of some Governors to allow staff and branch officials to have access to in-vision and details in order to plan their working lives.

The NEC do not accept that allowing access as per custom and practise would be a breach of GDPR especially if staff provide authority.

The Executive are aware that members have been to the Information Commissioner who has confirmed

“It would appear to be reasonable if the staff were to consent to the format of the Shift Centre rota, especially taking into consideration the limited amount of personal data actually being shared.”

Please raise this issue locally to seek a resolve or seek further clarification by contacting the ICO Helpline on 0303 123 1113 or through their live chat service.

In addition, more information about the Information Commissioner’s Office and the legislation we oversee is available on our website ico.org.uk.

The NEC will continue to raise this at national level to seek a sensible resolution.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation.

Yours sincerely
