POA INDICATIVE BALLOT ROLL OUT OF PAVA

Following the promulgation of Branch Secretary Circular 16/2019, the POA NEC are disappointed that the employer will not allow branch officials to carry out a democratic workplace ballot in the employers time as they see this as a trade union activity.

We do not accept that this ballot should be carried out on neutral ground. The employer has now directed local Governors to eject branch officials in some jails from the footprint of establishments.

This is unhelpful, unnecessary, does not promote positive industrial relations and is not acceptable nor has it been discussed with the NEC.

If your local Governor has taken this stance then the advice from this NEC is to carry out local ballots outside the footprint of the jail and invite as many press officials as possible.

Please keep your area rep involved as much as possible as they will have press contacts to help promote issues on both a local and national scale.

Your Sincerely
