POA Circulars

134 | 10.11.2017

The Executive has continued to monitor the legal challenges, provisions and changes to pensions, following a number of legal meetings they have determined to give you the opportunity to launch the biggest legal challenge against the Government Minister and relevant Employer.

The claim which is going to be pursued is for age discrimination, and in some cases race discrimination as well. You will find details of what the challenge is about by going to the POA website at:

The Executive has also determined that if any non-member joins the union, once they have had their form signed by the local branch committee and actioned by Cronin House they will be eligible to register on the website.

This challenge requires members to act, branch officials to engage at local level and encourage members to sign up. We need to know who is going to join in the case, and if you want to do so you must complete the questionnaire which is on the union website by Wednesday 10th January 2018.

Members can start to complete and submit their application from 17:00hrs today until 12:00hrs on the 10th January 2018.

Please ensure all members and non- members are made aware of the content of this Circular and encourage them to submit the application and where appropriate join the POA.

I intend to promulgate regular updates on the progress of this work.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
