POA Circulars

125 | 06.10.2017

Further to POA Circular 124/2017, the TUC is running two events as part of the campaign to win a fair and properly funded pay rise to all public sector workers.

The 2 events are as follows;

• A Lobby of Parliament, targeted at selected MPs from 2pm.
• A Rally with speakers in Parliament Square, from 6.30pm.

If you have arranged to Lobby your MP where the TUC have identified 35 Conservative MPs who have slim majorities and they fall within your constituency, please let the TUC’s Public Affairs Manager Sara Ogilvie know your name and the MP you wish to meet via sogilvie@tuc.org.uk

Please see attached list of 35 MPs. Lobby participants should meet in the William Sangster Room at Central Hall, Westminster, London, SW1H 9NH from 2pm onwards. Please arrive an hour before the appointed meeting with your MP. Please do not bring banners or placards in Central Hall Westminster. The TUC will provide stewards to accompany lobby participants to the House of Commons. On arrival you will be directed to pass through airport style security searches.

Even although the TUC are concentrating on the 35 Conservative MPs who have marginal majorities in those constituencies, POA members can in advance secure meetings with their respective Members of Parliament for a Lobby.

For those who cannot make the Lobby and Rally you can contact your local MP in your constituency office and secure a meeting locally. The POA nationally are collating who has contacted their members of Parliament in this vital campaign on Pay.

Once you have made contact with your MP could you email nicola@poauk.org.uk so that we centrally can collate responses from Members of Parliament.

Members wishing to attend the Rally should come to Parliament Square from 6.30pm. There will be speeches and presentations for approximately one hour from 7pm.

Your sincerely

General Secretary
