POA Circulars

The POA are now affiliated to the GFTU and at the Biennial Council meeting the GFTU agreed, to invite nominations to fill a maximum of four seats for young workers on the incoming Executive Committee. The definition of young, used within the GFTU as an organisation is up to 30 years of age.

Expressions of interest to go forward as a nomination should be made to the General Secretary’s office to nicola@poauk.org.uk no later than the 1st June 2017, so the NEC can consider applications for nominations going forward to the GFTU as their deadline is 12 noon on 30th June 2017.

Nominated candidates going forward should produce a statement of no more than 600 words to accompany their nomination. It would therefore be helpful if this was also sent with expressions of interest to our NEC and if selected by the NEC, I will forward that on to GFTU.

In the event of an election, ballot forms will be circulated to individual Unions that are affiliated to GFTU.

A timetable for Executive meetings which has a two year term of office is attached for your information, along with the date of the next BGCM of the GFTU. Expenses are paid by the GFTU for the meetings.

The GFTU has made this new provision for young members to assist us all in creating a new generation of leaders and full induction and continued support will be given to the young workers elected.

I look forward to receiving applications from our young members in the given timescale.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
