POA Circulars

In respect of the above issue regarding New Psychoactive Substances, the NEC believes the employer is not doing enough to protect you in the workplace from the serious harmful effects of NPS fumes.

Further to the advert in the April/May 2016 Gatelodge, the NEC advise all members who have been affected by NPS whilst at work to do the following;

  • Enter the incident onto RIVO/accident book as an accident at work.
  • Attend A&E or your own GP.
  • Request sick leave excusal if you have to report sick.
  • Report the incident to Joe Simpson via helen@poauk.org.uk.

The NEC further advise all members to follow the advice set out in POA circulars 100/2015 and 16/2016, to protect your own health and safety, as the advice contained in these circulars is the same for NPS.

The NEC would ask all members who have been affected by NPS to inform their branch committee as soon as possible.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all our members.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
