Health and Safety 28 Day Notice

On the 18th March 2015 following the publication of the House of Commons Justice Select Committee Ninth Report on Prisons: Planning and Policy the NEC gave notice to NOMS about their abject failure to protect your Health and Safety. As a result of that letter on the 26th March the NOMS/POA 2015 agreement was signed.

In September 2015 the review of Health and Safety identified a continued failure by NOMS to respond to our concerns. This was further compounded in the safer custody statistics to September 2015 and the data on assaults and self-harm up to June 2015.

As a result of the continued failure of NOMS the Executive today determined to put NOMS on notice through the attached letter. As previously stated Health and Safety is non-negotiable and this Union will do all in its power to protect our members Health and Safety.

Please draw the contents of the attached letter to our members as soon as possible.

Further information will be promulgated in due course.

Yours sincerely
