POA Circulars

You may be aware that the TUC have organised a mass demonstration to take place at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester on Sunday 4th October.

The National Executive Committee will be in attendance at this event along with members of our sister Trades Unions from across the country.

The NEC hope that as many POA members as possible can get to Manchester on the day and support our campaign against the Government cuts that are making our prisons more and more dangerous places to work and against their plans to tie even tighter the hands of unions to fight back.

Attached to this circular is a list of coaches that have been arranged by various unions from around the country. If you are unsure of how you can get to this event and support the campaign please contact the relevant organiser to check if they have any spare places on their coaches.

The march will form up along Oxford Road (Please see attached Map) from the main stage area at All Saints Park from 12 noon. The POA National Banner will be there and we would ask all members who are able to join us at this important event to use this as your meeting point.

I hope that, with a good union turnout, the public, media and potentially the Government will take notice that the working people of this country have had enough and that they must seek a better way forward than their current Austerity measures, that are causing so much pain to ordinary working people.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
