Acting down

The National Executive Committee have been made aware that the problem of staff acting down to cover profiled work is increasing as Management fail to introduce regimes which are sustainable from within existing resources.

POA Circular 11/2014 sought to raise awareness of this issue and gave guidance for branch officials in the event of staff being instructed to act down on a regular and predictable basis. In order to assist the executive in progressing this matter further can you please provide Debbie Davis Secretary to the POA’s BDG Committee with the following;

The number of times staff have been required to act down to cover profiled work at your establishment and whether this was unforeseen or predictable.

Please provide dates where such action has occurred, the rank of staff asked to act down and the justification given by management for this instruction.

Please forward all information to Debbie by e-mail by the 16th of June 2014 on the following address: debbie@poauk.org.uk

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation.

Yours sincerely

ANDY DARKEN
Deputy General Secretary
