Equality Advisory Committee - Vacancies

At present, there are seven vacancies on the Equality Advisory Committee, due to resignations and an increase in the committee by four members.

The work of the Equality Advisory Committee covers four strands, Women, Black Workers, Disability and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT).

The committee meet quarterly to assist the National Executive Committee on equality issues, attend TUC Conferences and assist POA members with equality matters.

In light of the change in facility time, it was deemed that the work of the Equality Advisory Committee is seen as a trade union activity and anyone who is interested in joining will have to use their own time to attend meetings etc. Travel and subsistence will be paid to members who attend meetings on behalf of the POA, as part of their role within the committee.

The National Executive Committee would like to invite interested members of the POA, not necessarily local committee members, to apply to the General Secretary in writing, via Helen Whittaker [helen@poauk.org.uk] providing the following information:

Yours sincerely

STEVE GILLAN
