Legal Aid is Changing

At this year’s Annual Conference the Executive set out some of the changes which will come into force under the Lord Jackson Review and how the Union are dealing with these.

Thompsons are currently working with the POA and other Unions to stop the reforms to Criminal Legal Aid.

If these changes go ahead it will impact on the levels of representation our members will receive at Magistrates Courts.

In order to support the Executive and Thompsons in our fight for justice, please sign the petition:-

Please find attached a leaflet from Thompsons which sets out the main changes. I would be grateful if you could copy this and publish it in your workplace and encourage all members and family members to sign the petition.

A link is also being set up on the POA website for members to access and sign up to the e-petition.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation on the this vital issue.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
