Pensions Ballot

Despite the promulgation of a number of POA Circulars and posters, the Executive are concerned that a significant number of members have still not exercised their democratic right to vote on the final offer from the Coalition Government, in respect of the changes to the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme.

Following concerns that members and branch officials had not received their ballot papers the Executive agreed an extension to the timetable with ERB’s. The ballot now closes on Monday the 20th of August 2012, therefore will members please encourage everyone to vote.

Officials should ask their Governor to allow them to distribute staff mail as part of their daily duties as we press ahead with a final push to maximise returns on the pension ballot.

The Executive are fully aware that the Government spin machine is geared up in anticipation of a poor return so they can use this for personal gain. We need to do everything in our power to prevent or minimise this.

Please circulate the contents of this circular to your members.

Unions have fought for democracy and the right to vote, this is your opportunity please use it.

Thanking you in anticipation of your total support and co-operation on this vital issue.

Yours sincerely
