POA Circulars

8th August 2012

Dear Colleagues

Following the promulgation of POA circular’s 45, 53, 72 and 82 of 2012, the Executive have decided to gather information from members in respect of the above.

NOMS have assured the NEC that all affected members have now been contacted by Shared Services and advised of the extent of the problem.  Therefore, all affected members should now be in possession of all the facts and in a position to register a grievance.  In order to assist members to draft their grievance a standard letter is attached, which should be used.  Members should expand and set out the details of their claim outlined.

The NEC would be extremely grateful if copies of all individual grievances and the completed pro-forma are returned to Ellen Fardy at Linden House or e-mail ellen@poauk.org.uk marking it for the attention of Joe Simpson, no later than Monday the 3rd of September 2012.  Joe is responsible for processing this matter on behalf of the Executive with our legal advisors.

Unfortunately, NOMS will not provide personal details to the union; therefore we are reliant on local branch officials forwarding information to those affected members in the first instance.  Whilst there is no guarantee that the POA will be successful in challenging the decision of NOMS to recover the contributions, our chances of success through the IDR process and legal challenge, will improve depending on the number of members who register the grievance and return the completed pro-forma.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support and co-operation on this issue.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
