Day of Action - 30th November 2011
The National Executive Committee would like to thank every POA member for their efforts in making the TUC day of action a major success in protesting against the Coalition Government and the attack on our respective pension schemes.
In respect of the membership at Ashworth, Rampton, Broadmoor and Carstairs the strike action was extremely successful and we are grateful to our members at those secure hospitals for taking that action, in respect of their pensions.
POA members working in prisons forced their Employer to adhere to Health and Safety Legislation and many regimes were curtailed as a result, ensuring the membership were safe at work.
This day of action, was a first step in our Campaign to get fair pensions for our members. Negotiations will continue and Government will know our strength of feeling. If in the coming weeks we cannot secure a negotiated settlement, then the National Executive Committee along with the Scottish National Committee and the Northern Ireland Area Committee will revisit our on-going strategy.
Once again, thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
STEVE GILLAN
General Secretary
