Medical Inefficiency Compensation Payments

Overnight it has been brought to the attention of the POA that Cabinet Office has imposed a change to medical inefficiency compensation payments.

Payments will now be capped at a “MAXIMUM 12 months salary”.  This change has been back-dated to the 16th December 2010 and all awards of compensation since that date are now being reviewed.

This is an imposed change that has NEVER been discussed with the POA or, to the best of our knowledge, any of our sister trades unions in the Civil Service.

We fully recognise the anguish and hardship this change will bring to some of our members and we are urgently seeking to add this to our application for Judicial Review on the imposition of the Compensation Scheme.

We will of course keep you updated on any developments.

Yours sincerely

STEVE GILLAN
General Secretary
