Lobby of Parliament and Rally at the Methodist Hall London - Tuesday 19th October 2010

The NEC have been actively engaged with the TUC and Public Services Liaison Group in developing a joint strategy to combat the proposed budget cuts, which are to be announced under the Comprehensive Spending Review on the 20th October 2010.

As part of the strategy the TUC has organised the above event and the POA would like as many members as possible to attend, to ensure a significant presence at the Rally and Lobby of MP’s.

The Executive are aware that members will need to attend in their own time as facility time will not be approved.  Therefore, to assist branches in co-ordinating numbers, the NEC agreed that the Finance Officer would collate all expressions of interest and determine the level of financial support that would be given to each branch.  Therefore, will you please forward your requests and details to Pete Chapple at Cronin House no later than Friday the 24th September 2010.  This will allow Pete to evaluate the overall costs and ensure all branches and members are treated fairly and equally.

We are sure that you all recognise the importance of this event and a strong presence of POA members standing side by side with other public sector unions and fellow trade unionists will send a clear message to this Coalition Government.

The Lobby of MP’s will help raise the awareness of the irreversible damage these planned cuts will do to the public service, welfare state and country as a whole.

We look forward to your support and solidarity and ask that you send this to all your members as a matter of urgency.

Yours sincerely
